PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition for molding which is excellent in mechanical strength and a molding material containing the resin composition for molding. SOLUTION: The resin composition for molding comprises (A) a novolac phenol resin having an ortho/para ratio of <2 and (B) a solid resol phenol resin, wherein the flow distance of the resin composition specified by ISO-8619 is 50-100 mm.
