PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high quality barium titanate using inexpensive starting materials under safe working environment. SOLUTION: The barium titanate(BaTiO<SB>3</SB>) powder of a cubic structure is obtained by the steps of preparing titanium tetrachloride and barium hydroxide as starting materials, adding potassium hydroxide to these to adjust a reaction solution into strong alkalinity, then pouring nitrogen into the reactor under normal pressure, heating the solution to 80-102°C and thoroughly stirring the solution while maintaining the temperature to carry out a hydraulic circulating stream reaction, and finally treating with an ion-exchange resin and drying.
