PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode material for a lithium secondary battery more excellent in quick charge and discharge characteristics, output characteristics, input characteristics, cycle characteristics and having a larger capacity compared with a conventional technology, to provide the manufacturing method of the negative electrode material, a negative electrode for the lithium secondary battery, and the lithium secondary battery using the negative electrode. SOLUTION: The negative electrode material for the lithium secondary battery is formed by covering at least a part of the surface and/or the inside of a carbon particle having one or more voids on the inside of the particle with a metal compound thin film.
