PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide porous titanium oxide which sufficiently exhibits a filtering function, is hard to be clogged, and sufficiently exhibits a photocatalytic function as well, and to provide its production method. SOLUTION: The porous titanium oxide has a pore size of 0.1 to 50μm. The method for producing the porous titanium oxide comprises a process where a titanium oxide precursor is packed into the pores of an organic porous body, and firing is performed.
