PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manganese dry battery having excellent high-rate discharge characteristics. SOLUTION: The manganese dry battery is equipped with a negative electrode can, a positive electrode mixture, and a separator interposed between the negative electrode can and the positive electrode mixture, and the separator is comprised of base paper having an electrolyte immersion speed of 1,000 sec/0.05 ml or less and paste material layers formed on both surfaces of the base paper.
