<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve moving picture display performance by efficiently increasing display response speed in a transmissive region T with a simple construction. <P>SOLUTION: A vertical alignment liquid crystal display device is equipped with: the transmissive region T and a reflective region H arranged on each pixel; a liquid crystal layer interposed between a pair of substrates; an interlayer insulating film disposed on one substrate of the pair of substrates and having an aperture part 53; and a rivet 16 mounted on the center part of the transmissive region T on the one substrate of the pair of substrates. A discontinuity region 30' in which orientation directions of liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal layer controlled with the rivet 16 are discontinuous with respect to orientation directions of the liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal layer on the inclined face of the interlayer insulating film is present in the aperture part 53.
