PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent or minimize data errors due to replacement of a main wave with a delayed wave.

SOLUTION: A correlation means 1002 delays an input by one symbol each through a shift register, performs convolutional operation between the input and a reference symbol sequence, and outputs correlation values as operation results one after another. A maximum value position detection means 1003 detects the position of a maximum correlation value. A reliability measuring means 1004 judges that a synchronizing symbol position changes when a synchronization position is different from a current synchronization position and the same maximum value position is obtained successively for specified fields while synchronism is established, and then outputs synchronizing pulses according to the new synchronization position and also generates synchronization position shift information. A reset signal generating means 22 generates a reset signal just before a field where the timing of the synchronizing pulses is changed according to the synchronization position shift information and outputs the reset signal to a waveform equalization part.
