PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate treatment to impart leather with a minus ion generating function and to makes generated minus ion effectively act on a user. SOLUTION: A coating film composed of a base coat 3, a color coat 4 and a topcoat 5 is formed on the grain side 2a of a leather substrate 2. The formation of the topcoat is carried out by application of a coating material having dispersed slightly radioactive natural ore 5a to generate minus ion. Consequently, permeation of the coating material into the leather substrate 2 is prevented as much as possible without performing specific treatment such as water repellent finishing to provide the leather 1 with a function for generating a large amount of minus ions.
