PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape handling method for a printing tape which can improve the scratch resistance without necessitating a laminate layer, and to provide a tape handling apparatus. SOLUTION: The tape handling apparatus 1 is equipped with an input means 73 for inputting a plurality of characters, a printing means 75 for printing the inputted plurality of characters to a front side 35 of the printing tape 2, and an emboss forming means 50 for forming a plurality of projections 5 to be convex at the front side 35 proximately and in the periphery of each character printed to the printing tape 2.
