PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for embedding information and a method for extracting the information capable of coupling a plurality of partial images in an accurate layout. SOLUTION: In the method for embedding the information embedding the information to images by using an electronic watermark, the method comprises a process in which the images are inputted (S101), and a process in which information for specifying positions on the images is embedded to the input image (S103). The positional information is embedded at a minute-region unit in a print and backgrounds of screen displays by an electronic watermark technique. A plurality of the images can be coupled in the accurate layout on the basis of the positional information obtained from the watermarked photographed image. Thus, coupled images can be obtained in the accurate layout even when there are the missing and overlapping of the mutual images not related to photographing regions and photographed images in a plurality of the photographed images.
