<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate configuration of a programmable device or a module or management of stock. <P>SOLUTION: Management of a module involves providing the module associated with an electronic tag 20 comprising a tag memory 24 and a tag communication element 26 first. After the tag is associated with the module, a tag reader electronically reads module identification information from the tag 20 and verifies that the module identification information matches predetermined identification conditions. If it is verified that the identification information matches, a tag writer programs the tag 20 with configuration information.
