The printing roller has a tubular shaft (3) held on bearings (5) at the ends of a supporting shaft (7). There is a thick covering layer (9) on the outside diameter of the tubular shaft with a pattern of cuts (11) at an angle (alpha) to the surface. The cuts run circumferentially on the surface (9o) of the covering layer.
