The arrangement has a bracket (1) for attachment on the vehicle side with two legs (9,10) that move apart in the event of a crash and a pivotably mounted pedal lever (3) between the legs. The legs are forced apart by a spring (11) and a connecting element (12) holds them together against the force of the spring. An actuating element (15) causes separation of the connecting element as a result of deformation on the vehicle caused by a crash, whereupon the legs are moved apart by the spring to release the pedal lever.
