The invention relates to a flexible pipe element for exhaust pipes of internal combustion engines of motor vehicles. Said pipe element comprises helical or annular convoluted bellows (2) produced from metal that are provided with cylindrical connecting ends (3, 4) and a knitted hose (5) directly surrounding the bellows, whereby bellows and knitted hose are interlinked at their ends, thereby forming the connecting ends of the pipe element (1). The pipe element (1) is characterized by an axial length reserve extending in the plane of the knitted structure.
