Flat multilayer commodity punching device for use in printing machine, has punching and counter punching cylinders, in which one is held in radially shiftable magnetic bearing to adjust breadth of punching gap between cylinders

The device has punching and counter punching cylinders (1, 4) between which a punching gap is formed. The gap punches a layer of a flat multilayer commodity without cutting through the layers of the commodity. Triangulation sensors (7, 8) measure the breadth of the gap. One of the cylinders is held in a radially shiftable magnetic bearing (5, 6) to adjust the breadth of the gap based on the measured breadth. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a printing machine including a flat multilayer commodity punching device (B) a method for punching flat multilayer commodity.
