The epidermis-regenerating effect of various chitin derivatives is revealed and a drug for the remedy or treatment of wounds which is effectively usable clinically is provided. It has become obvious that N-acetyl-D-glucosamine ha s the effect of accelerating the proliferation of epidermal keratinocytes. Thu s, an epidermal kerationocyte growth accelerator containing N-acetyl-D-glcosami ne is provided. Also provided are a regeneration accelerator and a protective agent for the epithelium, skin, or corium.
