In a process to temporarily store pre-cooked food in fresh condition, the food is held in a container with a lower section and an air-tight cover with a back-flow prevention valve. A small quantity of water is held in a secondary open container within the lower section. On heating e.g. by microwave, the water forms steam and escapes into the container and displaces air, leaving a partial vacuum. An independent claim is also included for a commensurate assembly in which the back-flow prevention valve may be opened by the user to admit air and restore atmospheric pressure within the food container. The volume of water within the food container occupies less than 2% of the void. The water evaporation process takes about two minutes.
|
