Examples of products include travel-related products and services such as airplane flights, hotel room rentals, and car rentals. The item may represent a discounted price of the product. For instance, the item can represent a discount on the purchase price of the product from a provider, or it can represent a purchase price that is less than a regular purchase price of the product. The party providing the establishment with the item can receive fees in two different ways. First, when the consumer purchases the item from the establishment, and when the item is activated, the party receives a fee from the establishment. Second, when the consumer purchases the product from the provider using the item, the party receives a fee from the provider.
