An electric motor has an integral torque measuring device. The motor has a housing (18) with a circular section (9) with a fixed housing section (8) linked by flexible struts (10) to the main housing section (3). The shaft (6) reactive force imparts a twist action between the two sections (3, 8). The motor has a torque sensors (13) embedded in the flexible struts and linked to a micro-controller.
