A portable covering structure such as an aircraft hangar comprises a cover material 15, 72, supported by frame assemblies which are arcuate and comprise elements 21 of channel section 22, 23 which are disposed end to end and secured together with plate elements 41 which bridge the channel and are disposed in staggered or lapped relationship thereto. The plates 41 may have studs 42, 43 which co-operate with holes 32, 33 in flanges 30, 31 of the channel elements and keder arrangements 49, 50 and 27, 28 may be provided for outer covering and lining respectively. The channel elements may be joined at their channel bases by clevis pins. The structure may be stabilised by purlins 12, and temporarily braced as at 13 during erection. |
