The thermal expansion element has an encapsulation (1) containing a thermal expansion medium (2), which exerts pressure on a first wall section (3) of the encapsulation, for displacing it in a given direction (5) relative to a second wall section (4) of the encapsulation. An independent claim for a heating radiator thermostat valve is also included.
