A method for selecting an input symbol (401) comprises the steps of: 1) displaying a set (101) of input symbols (901); 2) selecting an input symbol (401) from said set (101) of input symbols (901) displayed, by: i) moving a cursor (103) to overlap the input symbol (401); and ii) selecting the input symbol (401) with which the cursor (103) overlaps; 3) collecting image data (ID); and 4) mapping a displacement (d) in the image data (ID) to a displacement (d') in relative position between the cursor (103; 103') and the set (101; 101') of input symbols (901).
