<p>By means of the tempering valve (26), various roller zones outside the support region (16), which lie within the annulus (30) between the roller casing (12) and the yoke (14), seen in the direction of rotation, can be contacted with thermal fluid. The valve (26) supplies the annulus or various zones of it, with cooling fluid; it may also supply a heating fluid to other zones. The valve adjusts the feed rate as a function of piston pressure exerted on the support(s). Nozzles (32) spray the fluid into roller zones. A valve (34) controls quantity in terms of support piston pressure. It closes with increasing piston pressures and vice versa. It shuts completely above a given upper pressure limit, and/or opens completely below a given lower pressure. The valve opening cross section, is controlled by a spring-loaded plug. The nozzle cross section is related to the size of the support, such that a constant mixture temperature is produced in the interior of the roller. The control mechanism is further detailed. Fluids used for temperature control and/or as a pressurizing medium comprise oil(s).</p> |
