FIELD: electric arc-jet engine units, plasma accelerators, and generator units. ^ SUBSTANCE: converter cells are divided into two groups. All cells limit discharge current under short-circuit conditions. In addition, cells of one group regulate discharge voltage and those of other group stabilize cathode heater current; operation thresholds with respect to discharge current are different for all cells so that only one cell may be run in limiting mode at a time. ^ EFFECT: reduced input current ripples and noise, input filter mass, and maximal power requirement of device. ^ 1 cl, 2 dwg |
