The tongue 5 of a load anchor 1 can be pivoted from it's flush mounting in the anchor housing 3 (itself flush mounted in the deck or wall of a transport vehicle) by inserting a finger through the tie down strap receiving aperture 13 in the tongue to push on a lever 11 mounted beneath the tongue. The lever pivots to lift the free end of the tongue, the tongue pivoting on trunnions 7, and expose part of the tongue above the top surface of the housing to allow attachment of the tie down strap to the anchor through the tongue aperture.
