PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel capable of stably generating writing discharge, and of reducing erroneous discharge by improving cross talk to adjacent main discharge cells. SOLUTION: This plasma display panel is provided with: lateral barrier ribs 34b for partitioning the main discharge cells 40 formed by facing scanning electrodes 22 and sustaining electrodes 23 of a front substrate 21 to data electrodes 32 of a back substrate 31, and priming discharge cells 41a each having two of the scanning electrodes 22 adjacent to each other out of the scanning electrodes 22 and formed in a space part adjacent to the main discharge cell 40; and a front plate dielectric layer 24 covering the scanning electrodes 22 and the sustaining electrodes 23. The front plate dielectric layer 24 covering auxiliary electrode 22b'-auxiliary electrode 22b' facing to each other is formed only by the first dielectric layer 24a, and the front plate dielectric layer 24 in the main discharge cell 40 is formed by stacking the first dielectric layer 24a and the second dielectric layer 24b.
