PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfactorily clean next optical disk without being affected by the cleaning the preceding optical disk. SOLUTION: An optical pickup part 3 driven to move in the radial direction of the optical disk 2 by a seek motor 11 is located under a turntable (not illustrated), and this optical pickup part 3 is provided with a cleaning member 5 having a brush 14 (Fig. 2). The recording surface of this optical disk 2 is provided with water and oil repellent finishing which makes the surface resistant to adhesion of dirt. In the cleaning mode, the optical disk 2 is rotated and the optical pickup part 3 moves in the radial direction of the optical disk while the brush 14 is kept in contact with the underside of this optical disk 2.
