PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving support system which makes a driver safely pass by other vehicles by reporting proper information to the driver in the case of passing by other vehicles. SOLUTION: When the driving support system (navigation device) is able to communicate with an oncoming vehicle (S110: Y), images are obtained from front cameras (S120). Then, the images are exchanged with a driving support system of the oncoming vehicle (S130), from these images, common objects are recognized to thereby compute a positional relationship between an own vehicle and the oncoming vehicle and displayed in a display part using a vehicular model (S150). Consequently, the driver can intuitively recognize the positional relationship between the own vehicle and the oncoming vehicle by seeing the display part. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
