PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize sharp contrast display, low voltage driving, low power consumption, and chip size miniaturization while preventing a frame response phenomenon of a high-speed liquid crystal. SOLUTION: In a driving method for addressing multiple lines of a simple matrix liquid crystal, 7 row electrodes are selected at the same time, and when the row selection vectors of 7 bits presenting a selection pattern of the 7 pieces of row electrodes and display data of 7 bits presenting a display pattern of column electrodes are processed by exclusive OR operation at each corresponding bit and the exclusive OR of each bit is summed, and when a third voltage of the maximum voltage of the column electrodes is expressed by Vc, the LCD is driven by selecting a column electrode voltage level from four voltage level values of -3Vc, -Vc, +Vc, and +3Vc according to the result of the summation, and thus, the row electrode driver and column electrode driver for driving the LCD are packaged in a single chip. |
