<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving supporting device for identifying a road width decision factor to accurately decide road width enabling its own vehicle to actually travel, and for determining whether or not its own vehicle is able to pass, and for supporting the driving operation when it is able to pass. <P>SOLUTION: A detection processing part 11 in a driving supporting device 1 detects a road width decision factor such as road width or an obstacle based on the outputs of a mill-wave radar 33, a camera 34 and an infrared camera 35, and an identification processing part 12 identifies the type of the road width decision factor, and a road width deciding part 13 decides the road width enabling its own vehicle to actually travel based on the type of the road width decision factor, and a passage deciding part 14 decides whether or not its own vehicle is able to pass. Furthermore, when its own vehicle is able to pass, the driving operation necessary for enabling its own vehicle to pass is calculated, and the provision of information to an operator using a display system 40 or the support of the driving operation of the vehicle using an operation control system 50 and a lamplight system 60 is executed based on the result. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
