摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which can regenerate image data in a backward direction while suppressing a circuit size by adopting intra-coding. <P>SOLUTION: Each of a plurality of GOP (Group of Pictures) includes image data of a plurality of frames in which the head frame of a forward direction is carried out intra-coding, and frames following the head frame in the forward direction are carried out inter-coding. A CPU 36 specifies the plural of the GOP blocks in order of the backward direction. An MPEG4 CODEC 38 decodes image data of a plurality of frames included in the specified GOP, and a JPEG CODEC 40 carries out intra-coding in a forward direction for respective image data of a plurality of the decoded frames. A CPU 36 discriminates whether a number of frames carried out the intra-coding is over a threshold value or not. The JPEG CODEC 40 decodes the image data of a plurality of frames carried out intra-coding in the backward direction when the discrimination result of the CPU 36 is affirmative. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p>
