<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phosphor which is excited by light at wavelengths ranging from ultraviolet to visible wavelengths (300-550 nm) emitted from a blue or ultraviolet light-emitting device. <P>SOLUTION: The phosphor represented by the formula: Ca<SB>1.6</SB>Si<SB>3</SB>O<SB>1.63</SB>N<SB>4.35</SB>:Eu<SB>0.024</SB>is produced by preparing a commercially available CaO [3N], Si<SB>3</SB>N<SB>4</SB>[3N] and Eu<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>[3N], weighing each material to achieve a molar ratio of CaO:Si<SB>3</SB>N<SB>4</SB>:Eu<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>=1.4775:1:0.01125, mixing the materials, heating the obtained mixture to 1,600°C at a temperature-rising rate of 15°C/min in a nitrogen atmosphere, keeping and baking it at 1,600°C for 3 hr and cooling it from 1,600°C to 200°C in 1 hr. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
