<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcast receiver and a broadcast receiving method which eliminates the cross color jamming and the dot jamming even from quasi-picture signals resulting from the conversion from the standard picture format to a high quality picture format, thereby displaying a high-quality picture. <P>SOLUTION: Upon receipt of quasi-HDTV picture signals with added side panel pictures by up-converting composite type picture signals in the SDTV picture format, a down-converter (18) converts the received quasi-HDTV picture signals into the SDTV picture signals, a picture processor (24) applies a three-dimensional YC separating process to improve the performance and reduce the cross color jamming and the dot jamming for better picture quality, and an up-converter (25) converts in the HDTV picture format to display a picture. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
