PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ionic liquid having electrochemical stability, a low melting point and high ionic conductivity and useful as an electrolyte of electric devices. SOLUTION: The new quaternary ammonium dicyanamide is represented by formula (1). Wherein, at least one of R<SP>1</SP>to R<SP>4</SP>is a 1-6C alkoxy 1-6C alkyl group, the others are each independently a 1-6C aliphatic group, the aliphatic groups may have a substituent, two of the aliphatic groups may form a ring through or non-through O or N, and X is N(CN)<SB>2</SB>. The compound has a low melting point of≤50°C and exhibits properties as a stable and excellent ionic liquid. The quaternary ammonium dicyanamide is obtained by reacting a halide of the corresponding quaternary ammonium with an alkali metal salt or silver salt of dicyanamide. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
