PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire for electro-slag welding, which wire can provide welded metal having stable toughness even when the steel having a tensile strength of 500-600 MPa has been welded by electro-slag welding method with a large heat input. SOLUTION: The wire contains 0.01-0.15 % C, 0.05-1.5 % Si, 0.5-2.5 % Mn, at most 0.03 % Al, at most 3.0 % Ni, 0.03-2.0 % Mo, 0.02-0.5 % Ti, and 0.003-0.01 % B, and further contains 0.03-2.5 % Cr if necessary.
