<p>An IC engine, especially a large diesel engine, has a fuel supply system that possesses at least one circulation line (5) provided with connections (6) for assigned loads. It can be supplied with fuel by a supply device (14) which has several tanks (15,16) for fuels that can be used alternately. There is a conditioning device (8) assigned to the forward branch of the circulation line for conditioning the temperature of the fuel. To the conditioning device is assigned a programmable control device that can be activated with each change from one fuel to another. By means of this the fuel temperature with each change can be advanced according to a program specified for the change concerned along a ramp function contained in this from the level assigned to the previous type of fuel to the level assigned to the new type of fuel. A monitoring and control of the fuel viscosity and temperature gradient are superimposed on the temperature change taking place according to the assigned ramp function.</p> |
