<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the occurrence of black stripes by a simple structure by preventing a read section from being stained by scraping off correction liquid, excessive ink of a ball-point pen, etc., sticking on a document surface when the document is read on a sheet-through basis. <P>SOLUTION: A replaceable projection-shaped part 70 is formed on a guide plate 59 upstream from the document read section 51 in a document conveying direction. The projection-shaped part projects toward a document surface of a conveyed document and has a slope surface S protruding upward from upstream side to a downstream side in the document conveying direction. The document which is conveyed through rollers 52 and 53 smoothly ascends on the slope surface S from its front end and correction liquid, excessive ink of a ball-point pen, etc., sticking on the document surface are removed before the document climbs over the top of the projection-shaped part 60 to reach the document read section 51.
