PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus having a zoom function without an optical means, thereby enabling the signal correction of a defect pixel based on location information of the defect pixel preliminarily stored. SOLUTION: The drive timing of a CCD is controlled so that the signal electrical charge of a horizontal line included in a necessary area corresponding to a designated magnification N within a horizonal line on the photo-reception surface of the CCD is transferred intermittently once in an N horizonal scanning period within a vertical life time from a timing T104, and so that a signal electrical charge of a horizontal line included in an upper unnecessary area corresponding to a part of a screen upper than a necessary area is transferred at a high speed immediately before a vertical lifetime at timings T103-T104. Thus, when a defect pixel due to the potential gap of a vertical transferring portion is generated in a transfer stop period (timings T102-T103), a defect pixel location is prevented from being changed according to the magnification N.
