PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a loop node detection method in a MAC bridging network for simply and quickly detecting nodes configuring a loop and assisting to eliminate communication hitches. SOLUTION: A TTL field in a frame includes a TTL being frame time to live information. The TTL is decremented at every frame passing through a node and a frame whose TTL reaches a predetermined value is aborted. In the case that a loop is configured by a loop connection of (a port B of a node 2)-(a port A of a node 4)-(a port B of the node 4)-(a port B of a node 3)-(a port A of the node 3)-(a port C of the node 2), many traffics with various TTL values are delivered to the loop for a short time, and two or more ports of the nodes (the ports B, C of the node 2 and the ports A, B of the node 3) configuring the loop receive frames with TTL [0] resulting in that aborted frames take place. One port of a node 1 not directly configuring the loop causes a frame abort at one port (a port C of the node 1). Thus, the nodes configuring the loop can be detected. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
