A lifter (200) is provided on a drum (100) for lifting and dropping laundry in the drum during a rotation of the drum (100). The lifter (200) slides and moves along an inner surface of the drum (100) after passing through the inner surface so as to be engaged to the drum (100). At least one slot (150) is provided on a circumference of the drum (100), and at least one hook (210) is provided on the lifter (200) for being engaged to the slot (150). Further, at least one projection (170) is provided on the drum (100), and at least on rib (230) is provided on the lifter (200). The projection (170) and the rib (230) are tightly engaged with each other so as to secure the lifter (200) to the drum (100) when the lifter completely slides and moves laterally.
