353,752. Valve gear. SWISS LOCOMOTIVE & MACHINE WORKS, Winterthur, Switzerland. Sept. 9, 1930, No. 26892. Convention date, Sept. 24, 1929. [Class 7 (vi).] The valveactuating levers are mounted on the overhanging ends of their pivots so that, by sliding a pivot axially, one of the levers may be removed without dismantling the other levers or the valve-actuating rods. Fig. shows a pair of valves 5, 6 actuated by levers 20, 18 mounted on pivots 24, 23 and connected to each other at 22 and to the cam roller 14 by a rod 16. A second cam actuates two other valves through similar gearing and two other levers mounted on the opposite ends of the pivots 23, 24. By sliding the pivots axially, the levers at one end become freed therefrom and can be turned out of the way of the valves as indicated in dotted lines at 18<1>, 201. The pivots are secured in place by means of split bearings 30, and by washers secured at the ends of the pivots. |
