PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder block of an engine which can prevent deformation of a cylinder liner resulting from the axial force of a bolt and deformation of the cylinder liner resulting from the force applied from the inner side of the cylinder, and which can reduce a temperature difference around a cylinder bore peripheral wall. SOLUTION: In the cylinder block, a contact surface F1 between the cylinder 12 and the cylinder liner 13 includes a bottom wall inner-side contact surface FM where an outer peripheral surface 12 F of the cylinder positioned on the radially outer side is connected to a bottom wall 16, and a lower end inner-side contact surface FW positioned on the radially inner side of a lower end portion 14R of a water jacket 14 including a bottom surface 14B of the water jacket 14. An adhesion force between the cylinder 12 and the cylinder liner 13 at the bottom wall inner-side contact surface FM and the lower end inner-side contact surface FW is set to be smaller than an adhesion force between the cylinder 12 and the cylinder liner 13 at portions other than the bottom wall inner-side contact surface FM and the lower end inner-side contact surface FW.
