PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a false twist yarn having high stretchability and low hot water shrinkage ratio, having soft touch feeling and enabling production of stretch materials having adequate bulkiness. SOLUTION: The false twist yarn is composed of a polytrimethylene terephthalate-based fiber and has≥100% and≤300% stretch ratio of this processed yarn and≤5% hot water shrinkage ratio. In a method for producing the false twist yarn, yarn temperature in a twisting part heater outlet is≥120°C and≤200°C and a secondary set heater temperature is≥120°C and≤200°C and A and B satisfy the formula (1): A×B×≥70,000; formula (2): A≥1,500 and formula (3): 25≤B≤80 [wherein A is false-twist count (T/m) and B is a feed ratio (%) in a secondary set heater].
