PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent waste of unnecessary electric power by restraining monitor displaying. SOLUTION: The recording apparatus is detachably attached with a storage medium storing image data, and is provided with a reading means for reading the image data from the stored memory medium to record the image data with a recording head. The apparatus is provided with a signal outputting means for outputting a signal to an external display means and a first judging means for judging whether or not the memory medium is fitted to the reading means. The signal outputting means suppresses outputting of the signal to the external display means, on judging with the first judging means that the storage medium is not fitted.
