PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inverted spot facing / chamfering device capable of performing inverted spot facing and chamfering in high precision dimensions while preventing the damage of a workpiece. SOLUTION: A shank 6 is formed in bifurcated tip shape with an outer diameter approximately equal to the inner diameter of a prepared hole D of the workpiece W, and changeable into a free state in which the bifurcated part is elastically deformable in a radial direction, and a set state in which elastic deformation of the bifurcated part is regulated. The device comprises a rotation control part 12 for controlling the rotation of the shank; a three-dimensional movement control part 16 for inserting the shank as far as the back side of the prepared hole; a shank recognition means 8 for recognizing the free state or set state of the shank; and an interlock control part 14 for sending a rotation command to the rotation control part and a movement command for moving the shank upward, to the three-dimensional movement control part at the same time when confirming the insertion of the shank tip as far as the back side of the prepared hole and recognizing that the shank is in the set state.
