PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a mating terminal fitting to be smoothly inserted, in relation to a connector. SOLUTION: A female housing 21 is provided with cavities 24 enabling female terminal fittings 22 to be inserted therein, and a front retainer 23 is enabled to be attached thereto from the front side. On front walls 25 and 40 of each cavity 24, insertion openings 29 and 41 enabling insertion of a mating male terminal fitting 12 from the front side are formed. Upper halves of the front walls 25 and 40 of each cavity 24 on the lower tier side are longitudinally divided into a front half part 40a on the front retainer 23 side along with the insertion openings 29 and 41 and a rear half part 25a on the female housing 21 side. At the front edge of the insertion opening 41 in the front half part 40a on the front retainer 23 side out of them, a guide surface 42 capable of guiding the insertion operation of the male terminal fitting 12 is formed. At the front edge of the insertion opening 29 in the rear half part 25a on the female housing 21 side, an auxiliary guide surface 31 capable of guiding the insertion operation of the male terminal fitting 12 is formed.
