PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic nesting method for executing nesting by arranging members with satisfactory yield even when those members are complicatedly shaped. SOLUTION: In an automatic nesting method, automatic nesting is carried out by reading raw material data and member data to be nested, and arranging members at random on the raw materials, and recognizing the overlapped portion of the members and/or the portion exposed from the raw materials as a lap, and generating a virtual repulsive force in the lap portion, and moving the members in order to eliminate the lap. Consequently, it is possible to eliminate the production of any lap portion overlapped on the members on the raw materials or any lap portion exposed from the raw materials by operating the virtual repulsive force.
