PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve first printout time and throughput by eliminating a pseudo BD (Beam Detect) control in the case of a monochrome mode. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus, which has the monochrome mode and a color mode, can switch the two modes and produces BDs of other colors in pseudo from a real BD of one color (black) with one BD sensor, is constituted so that the psuedo-DB control is not performed in the case of the monochrome mode.
