PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for normalizing a positron emission tomography system 900. SOLUTION: This method includes a process 102 for determining a plurality of block busy ratios as to the positron emission tomography system, and a process 104 for providing correction during the normalization of the positron emission tomography system using the determined block busy ratios. In another embodiment, the execution is carried out by rotating a rod line source inside the positron emission tomography system. The positron emission tomography system includes at least one block detector ring, and the method includes also a process for acquiring an average block busy value about each of block detectors, and a process for determining a model of a count loss as to an optional position of the rod line source, using the average block busy value.
