<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can prevent a wasteful discharge of a transfer sheet and promptly judge an abnormal state, by judging whether an image to be outputted is abnormal or not, and externally advise the state when the image is abnormal, while stopping printing operation, and to provide an abnormal image judging method for the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a means for counting the length of a main scanning image area provided from the main body side of the image forming apparatus with a writing clock of a buffer memory, a means for counting the length of the main scanning image area of a transfer sheet side with the reading clock of the buffer memory, and a means 310 for comparing the main scanning image area equipped with an abnormal image judging function to judge that an image to be formed is abnormal, based on a calculated value calculated with the writing clock of the buffer memory and on a calculated value calculated with the reading clock of the buffer memory. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
